Bio

Linda DuVal - Freelance journalist

Linda was a reporter, writer and section editor at the Colorado Springs Gazette for 32 years. Early retirement in 2004 allowed her to pursue freelance writing, which she continues to do. Over the past 40 years her writing also has appeared in newspapers such as the Denver Post, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star, Newark Star-Ledger, Miami Herald and more.

Her freelance articles have appeared in in-flight magazines, 5280 magazine, Colorado Expression, Colorado Architecture & Design, and Colorado Springs Style. She also has written for online publications such as FrontDoor.com, Rand McNally's travel website, plus goColorado.com and GoWorldTravel.com. Her regular column, The Colorado Explorer, appeared in each issue of AAA's EnCompass magazine from 2004 to 2013. She also written articles for UCHealth’s various publications and websites. In 2023, she published her first historical novel "The Lightkeeper."

Community involvement includes serving on the Advisory Board for the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District, founder of the annual Latina Voices program, and organizing the annual Frank Waters and Golden Quill writing awards and luncheon. She joined the KPWE Advisory Board in 2006. She has mentored a number of scholars, all of whom have made her proud.
