Bio

Elementary Principal, Retired

Judy Casey has been active in various teaching and leadership roles in public education in Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Since 1960, she has served as a classroom teacher, K-12 literacy director, and elementary principal. She has been active in literacy organizations at the local and state levels in Wisconsin and Colorado, serving as president of both state organizations.

Since retiring from Academy School District 20 in Colorado Springs as an elementary principal, Judy has supervised elementary student teachers and future principals at four local universities, including UCCS and the University of Denver. She continued working with students until 2019 when she retired from the University of Northern Colorado.

Judy continues to be active as a volunteer.  She has a keen interest in literacy in South Africa and has traveled to South Africa six times to work in the rural villages to support literacy development for young children.

Judy is married to Dayle, an Episcopal priest, and they have two sons, both of whom are involved in international work.
